The Cook’s Catalyst

Cook smart. Live Easy

Less time in the kitchen — more energy for everything else

The Cook’s Catalyst isn’t about chasing trends, extremes, or optimisation theatre.

The focus is on systems, not willpower; understanding, not restriction; and food that supports energy, strength, and everyday life — especially when time, tolerance, or motivation are limited.

Thermomix® is treated as a tool that can make this easier, not a requirement or an identity.

What you’ll find here

The Cook’s Catalyst brings together practical cooking, evidence-informed nutrition education, and Thermomix® know-how — with a particular focus on how food needs change through midlife.

You’ll find recipes that prioritise protein, fibre, and flavour; clear explanations of what matters, when it matters; and calm guidance that cuts through diet noise and extremes.

Some content is written specifically for midlife women navigating energy, strength, and metabolic changes. Other content is simply good, sensible cooking — designed to work in real kitchens, with or without a Thermomix®.

Everything here is about making real food feel workable, reducing decision fatigue, and helping you cook with confidence rather than overwhelm. Start with The Catalyst Journal for practical midlife metabolism, food and kitchen thinking.

I didn't see it coming. None of us do.

I've been fascinated by food and nutrition since I was a teenager — consulting actual beige scientific tables to understand what was in everything I ate. Practical, slightly nerdy, deeply motivated.

What I wasn't prepared for was perimenopause blindsiding me in my mid-forties with zero warning. No periods to signal the shift (thanks, hysterectomy). Just unexplained crying, a belly that appeared from nowhere, and a complete loss of patience with my husband — who I was absolutely certain was the problem.

Then came the hot flushes. The penny dropped.

What followed was a frustrating, sometimes absurd journey through scarce information, unhelpful medical experiences, and a very deep internet rabbit hole. I eventually found my footing — the right doctor, the right testing, the right support — and I read and researched obsessively until the picture became clear.

Now I want to hand you that clarity. The Cooks Catalyst exists to help women navigate this transition with real knowledge, practical nutrition, and kitchen systems that make nourishing yourself easier — without the overwhelm, the confusion, or the years of trial and error I went through.

You shouldn't have to figure this out alone. I already did that part.

A bit about me……

Who is this for?

The Cooks’ Catalyst is for you if:

  • You’re in midlife and cooking feels more mentally demanding than it used to

  • You own a Thermomix (or are considering one) but don’t feel fully supported

  • You’re tired of deciding what, how, and whether it’s “right” every day

  • You want calm structure - not more noise, rules, or pressure.

This is not a recipe site - although you will find some recipes here.

It’s a cooking orientation for a different stage of life.

The Problem we solve

Midlife changes how your body responds to food, how your energy fluctuates, and how much mental bandwidth you have.

Most cooking advice ignores this - and most Thermomix guidance often assumes confidence you may not feel.

The result? Decision fatigue, second-guessing, and a sense that cooking should be easier than it feels.
